Pratapgarh District Court was inaugurated on 12.04.1969 by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shashikant Verma, the then Administrative Judge of Hon’ble High Court, Allahabad . First District Judge of the Pratapgarh was MR. SURESH CHANDRA and at present SRI ABDUL SHAHID is District & Session Judge from 08.05.2023.
Pratapgarh on the Allahabad-Faizabad main road at a distance of 39 km from Sultanpur and 61 Km from Allahabad.It is one of the older districts of Uttar Pradesh, that came into existence in the year 1858. It is at a height of 137 Mt. from sea level. It is bounded by District Sultanpur on the north, on the south by District Allahabad, on the east by District Jaunpur, on the west by Fatehpur and north west by District Rae Bareli.
The Belha Devi Temple, The name of city Bela is derived from Maa Bela Devi. It is located approximately 3 k.m. from headquaters. It is situated on the Sai River. The Bhakti Mandir Mangarh (Kunda) meaning the Abode of Devotion is a divine temple established by Jagad Guru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj in the village of Mangarh. It is located in Kunda, approximately 62k.m. from headquaters.
There are two outlying courts to this district, one is situated at Kunda which was inaugurated in April 1993 and the other is situated at Lalganj-Ajhara which was inaugurated in 2012.Further one Gramnayalay situtated at Patti. There are five Tahsils namely Sadar, Lalganj, Kunda, Raniganj and Patti.
